Feel-good music from the heart of Africa
Feel Good Music from the Heart of Africa
Back in Africa, Congolese musician Siama Matuzungidi recorded guitar on hundreds of songs and toured the world with popular artists, helping to fuel the popularization of Soukous music in the '70's and 80's. Now based in Minneapolis, where people call his music, "the sound of happiness", Siama's known for his intricate guitar, catchy songs, spirited vocals, and traditional African instruments like Balafon, Mbira, and Lokole. His album, "Rivers" was featured by Songlines magazine and BBC and his children's album, "The Land of Yangalele" earned a Parents' Choice Parent Approved award. Siama and his wife and musical partner Dallas Johnson love performing at events, kids' festivals, libraries, and schools and for this special show, they'll be joined by an exciting band with keyboard, bass, and lots of great rhythms.
